THURSDAY 16th DECEMBER 2010, 7.30pm
West Somerset Community College,
Alcombe, Minehead.
Tickets: £10.00.
With their authentic period instruments and songs, the Mellstock Band has performed all over England, and taken their music to Europe, Africa and America.
They have also appeared in productions for film, television, radio and theatre, most notably in the BBC’s adaptations of Pride and Prejudice and Tess of the d’Urbervilles. Christmas is Come is a lively mixture of songs, stories, carols and tunes, which draws on many sources to portray the seasonal festivities of the English countryside including the works of John Clare, William Barnes, the Rev. William Holland and George Eliot. All these serve as introductions to a wide variety of unusual seasonal music and the show also includes a performance of a Dorset Mummers' Play.
